MANILA, Philippines (Newspixels) -- Senatorial candidate Mar Roxas is all smiles these past weeks in spite of his hectic campaign schedule.
The former Trade and Industry secretary admits he and broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez are in a great relationship and are very much in love with each other
"Matagal na. About two years," he said.
But Mar declined to say when they plan to tie the knot. "Hindi natin hawak ang bukas," was his poetic answer to reporter's question.
Mar told reporters that he had his first lengthy talk with Korina about six years ago during an awarding event at the National Press Club. He was being awarded as outstanding congressman, while Korina received an award as outstanding broadcaster.
"Before that, we've met a few times and we've talked for some interviews but not that long. At the NPC, talagang matagal kaming nag-usap. Bumabagyo that time kaya we couldn't go home even if we wanted to."
After that, they would see each other in social and political events but still there was no spark yet to kindle anything romantic. "At those times, we were both involved with others. May kanya-kanya kaming ka-relasyon. But one time, when I was no longer seeing someone, and she too wasn't involved with anyone, I thought of inviting her for a snack. Nag-ice cream kami somewhere in Makati, and that started it," Mar said.
So what attracted her to him? "Matagal ko na siyang hinahangaan from afar," he said. "I really respect and admire her..."
