Love and marriage for recently resigned Trade secretary Mar Roxas would have to wait. That is, if he can help it. Because apparently, kibitzers and supporters around Mar have found him a match: the mysterious K5.

"Where's K5? We thought she would be here," a group of teachers wondered as the 46-year-old bachelor waded among students at the Calamba City National High School recently. Hearing about the query, Mar quips, "Blame Kabayan (Senator Noli de Castro)!"

Both De Castro and Roxas are running under GMA's K4 party (for Koalisyon ng Katapatan at Karanasan sa Kinabukasan), but Roxas, his broadcaster colleague once pointed out, has an edge because he has a "K5."

But Mar is not talking, countering all queries with a sheepish grin. The grapevine has a name though: radio-TV personality Korina Sanchez. Says one media practitioner close to the senatorial bet: "I'm not sure what it is but having seen them together, I think it's an MU (mutual understanding) relationship."

Still, marriage may just be on Mar's mind. Told about that phrase extolling single blessedness -"He runs fast who runs alone'' - Mar replies: "But it can be lonely.''

On the ride back from Laguna to Manila, Mar checked on missed calls on his cell phone. He dialed a number. "You called?" he asks. An unwitting eavesdropper insisted the voice on the other end was unmistakably K5's.
