SHOWBIZ talk buzzed, people swooned, and nosy celebrity television hosts prodded their candidates to tell all.
One would think it was a Fernando Poe Jr. rally.
ABS-CBN talents Kris Aquino and Boy Abunda opened the Metro Manila campaign of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her K4 coalition on Thursday, the day the campaign period for local candidates officially started.
Abunda and Aquino, hosts of the popular talk show "The Buzz", teased the crowd by dropping hints about Aquino's new love life and a reported budding romance between the network's Korina Sanchez and Mar Roxas, a senatorial bet in the K4 ticket
The President was not exempt from using the tried and tested formula for drawing -- and holding -- the crowd in her campaign rallies.
"Thank you Boy and Kris for coming here to the sixth district (of Manila)." she said at the proclamation rally of Manila's candidates at Plaza Balagtas in Pandacan, Manila.
After she declared that Kris was "in love," the outspoken Aquino volunteered that she was indeed, with "the son of someone in your ticket."
Ms Macapagal then told Mar Roxas that the crowd was wondering where Korina Sanchez was. The crowd hooted when Roxas placed his hand on his chest, indicating his heart. Aquino reminded the President that she had promised to be a sponsor in the wedding of Sanchez and Roxas.
The showbiz agenda over, Abunda focused on the campaign, and asked why the President considers Pandacan important.
