Mar-Korina Ralationship Confirmed By Mar's Mom

A slight variation from the Philippine Star article...

Now for some juicier developments, a la The Buzz. It's probably bad news for ladies eyeing the country's most eligible bachelor.

Judy Araneta Roxas, widow of the late Sen. Gerardo Roxas, has confirmed nagging reports that her son, Lakas CMD senatorial candidate Mar Roxas has indeed been dating television news personality Korina Sanchez.

Mrs. Roxas, however, said the rumors came first. "The mother is the last to know," she told local journalists in an interview here during the commemoration of the 56th anniversary of her father-in-law former President Manuel Roxas. But she confirmed that her son and Sanchez "go out (on dates)", adding that she respects her son's decisions on his love life.

Born May 13, 1957, Mar has been dubbed by many as the country's "most eligible bachelor". Apart from being the grandson of the late Pres. Roxas, the last president of the Philippine Commonwealth and the first president of the Philippine Republic, and the son of the late Sen. Gerry Roxas, he had served as secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry under the Arroyo administration until he resigned to run for senator in the May elections. In a recent survey, he topped the list of senatoriables, pushing movie actor Bong Revilla down to second slot.

But the good news for Mar's lady fans is that Mrs. Araneta believes that the relationship between Mar and Sanchez has not become "that serious yet" in such a degree that would lead inevitably to marriage.

She stressed, however, that her son's relationship with Sanchez "is something that must be left to both of them, whatever their decision may be."

"I don't want to be a meddling mother, so let's leave it at that," she added.
