Mar and Korina: Romantic Duo
The Philippine Star

One of the latecomers to the dinner was Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas II, who arrived huffing and puffing. They had to iron out the last remaining glitches in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) extension before the "scheduled" ARMM elections next Monday. However, a caveat: the elections might have to be postponed anew.
And, of course, gorgeously present at the dinner was ABS-CBN's Korina Sanchez, who came over straight from her TV Patrol and other newscasting chores.
In a way, it wasn't just a birthday bash for me, given by STARGATE and its President/CEO, my partner, Babe Romualdez, but to "honor" our top cover girl, La Emperadora herself, who had appeared on four covers of People Asia in one year - one of our covers even being "borrowed"by her for her winning campaign poster. This announcement, naturally, came as a surprise to La Gloria, who had asked Babe to postpone the birthday affair to Sept. 6, so she could catch up with it on her return from China.
Also honored were the couple whose romantic cover photo in the June issue sold out within days of its coming off the press. That shot of the two, Mar and Korina, gazing soulfully into each other's eyes, was so much in demand that we had to do three printings of the publication. The second re-issue was sold out in the newsstands within four days! A third printing had to be done because US dealers demanded another 7,000 copies!
Would that soulful gaze into each other's eyes lead to the Altar? Or even to MalacaƱang? Mar, the formerly confirmed bachelor, merely blushed, and blushed, and looked both happy and flustered. Korina glowed on being ribbed about being a possible... uh, "future" First Lady, but didn't answer that query either.
Not being Ricky Lo, I'll guess no further.
