The Manila Speedzone at The Fort was suddenly glittering with stars recently. Normally as deserted as a desert on ordinary days, last Sept. 24, it certainly looked like Mecca with celebrities from the movies and television, fashion, and business gathering together and gearing up for an evening of karting.

Some guests stayed off course, like Korina Sanchez who came after wrapping up TV Patrol. And we all know why she had to rush from Mother Ignacia to The Fort, beating the Friday night traffic. Sen. Mar Roxas was among the celebrity participants, and he needed the inspiration.

A successful one night of fun, speed and sports

And so it came to pass.

The Nivea Celebrity Karting Challenge is probably the most successful celebrity event that has been organized so far with more than 50 celebrities attending - the biggest and brightest stars and even the most popular politicians.

After the awarding, champagne bursting and beautiful fireworks, the country's premiere band, Sida A, started playing for the crowd that had stayed, specifically for the lovey dovey couple Sen. Mar Roxas and Korina. The two stayed til the end of Side A's set, and we discovered that Korina is a self-confessed number one fan of Side A.
