SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines – Senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas III told The STAR yesterday morning that his wedding to radio and television broadcaster Korina Sanchez on Oct. 23 has been moved to Oct. 27 because of the unavailability of the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City where they will be married.

“We changed the date due to a little problem with the venue. It was arranged already and the wedding will now push through,” Roxas said.

On the way to Baguio City for a speaking engagement, Roxas and Sanchez paid a visit to La Union’s ruling clan, the Ortega family headed by La Union Governor Manuel Ortega and San Fernando City Mayor Pablo Ortega. They breakfasted in a resort owned by the family in Barangay Canaoay.

Roxas said he has invited the Ortega family to their wedding, and also consulted with them on the presidential candidacy of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

“I talked to them (Ortega clan) before about my presidential plans but now I consulted them on the candidacy of Noynoy,” he said without disclosing details of their meeting.

Roxas is yet to decide if he will accept Aquino’s offer to be his vice-presidential running mate.

The governor’s daughter, former TV host and actress Joy Ortega, and her mother Geraldine showed Korina around the resort.

Before proceeding to Baguio, the couple posed for a souvenir photo with the family where Gov. Ortega raised the senator’s hand, declaring their support for his candidacy.
