Korina Accepts Apology For 'Insertion' Joke

MANILA - Korina Sanchez accepted the apology of Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr. over a sex joke he cracked against Sanchez's husband, Sen. Manuel "Mar" Roxas II.

MANILA - Korina Sanchez accepted the apology of Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr. over a sex joke he cracked against Sanchez's husband, Sen. Manuel "Mar" Roxas II. "Sino ba naman ako na hindi magpatawad, ano? (Who am I not to forgive?)," she told ABS-CBN News in an interview on Wednesday.
Pimentel had apologized for his remark, in which he said Roxas had "insertions" after his marriage to Sanchez, through a prayer before Tuesday's plenary session.
"This is what politics can do to people, the first thing that flies out of the window is honor," said Sanchez, who was attending a showbiz party for Roxas hosted by film producer Lily Monteverde or "Mother Lily."
Roxas is running for vice president under the Liberal Party.
"We're really hoping that this election becomes one of the most honorable, marangal, malinis (clean). Wala sanang below the belt na siraan, sana naman ano. (I hope there are no below-the-belt mudslinging)," she said.
Sanchez, a veteran broadcaster, said politics can bring out the worst in people, especially among those with "brittle character."
This was the first time that she spoke about Pimentel's "insertion" joke, which Roxas earlier said was an insult against his wife.
