MANILA, Philippines – Liberal Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate Sen. Manuel “Mar” Roxas II said that despite the rigors of the campaign, like any newlywed, he still finds time to be with his wife, broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez.
He shared that he and Sanchez watched concerts of international artists at the Araneta Coliseum over the weekend.
“I was driving, in fact, just the two of us, our quiet time about 10:30 to 11 p.m. and then I was ‘Oh the parking lot is puno.’ Akala ko basketball. 'No, Kelly Clarkson the first [American] Idol.' 'Sino iyon? So silip tayo.' Nakiusap kami,” he recounted on ANC’s “Headstart” on Tuesday.
When asked by anchor Karen Davila if he and Sanchez got into the family-owned Araneta Coliseum for free on Saturday night, Roxas said: “Nakiusap kami... haha.”
“Pero wala naman kaming upuan, nakatayo lang kami. In fact, naka upo kami sa carton ng kahon ng equipment,” he added.
Roxas is the son of the late Sen. Gerardo Roxas and Judy Araneta-Roxas. He married Sanchez on October 27, 2009.
The vice-presidential candidate, meantime, commented on Clarkson’s performance.
“She has a good voice I didn't recognize any of her songs. But I noticed that her songs all about heartbreak,” the 52-year-old senator said.
