MANILA, Philippines – Veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez is happy to return to ABS-CBN’s flagship news program “TV Patrol” starting Monday next week.

In her text message to The Philippine Star entertainment columnist Ricardo Lo, Sanchez said she is coming back to her “first love with a deeper, wider understanding of how it will work, how people are affected by what others do or do not do.”

Lo wrote about the "revamped TV Patrol" in his PhilStar column on Wednesday.

“Under my belt is something I never would have had 10, five years ago or even a year ago. My heart is full coming back with people I started and grew with. People who among ourselves have mutual respect. Lahat kami totoong nasa puso ang trabaho at serbisyo sa tao at sa masa,” the wife of defeated vice-presidential candidate and former senator Manuel “Mar” Roxas II said.

Sanchez confessed that long before the confirmation from ABS-CBN, she had heard rumors about her comeback, but she chose not to take them seriously.

“The news came as a surprise,” she said. “More surprising is how fast this is happening. People around me say, ‘Finally.’ But, you know, I’ve tried to roll with all the punches and reinvent myself as many times as I thought it necessary.”

“It is always best not to allow yourself to be defined by a single show, you know. Each of us is so much more than that. But it is true that my heart is full,” the host of the magazine show “Rated K” added.

Sanchez holds the distinction of being the first female main anchor of “TV Patrol.”

According to ABS-CBN, she and former vice president and broadcast journalist Noli de Castro will join Ted Failon in TV Patrol “to form the most tried and tested news team ever assembled in the history of Philippine broadcasting.”

Sanchez vs Revillame

As to former ABS-CBN talent Willie Revillame, Sanchez maintained that the controversial television host will always have her love, and that he remains her friend.
“Alam niya na sa pagitan namin, wala itong kasamang kumpetisyon. Nagkataon lang na pareho ang timeslot namin sa ngayon,” she said.

Sanchez and Roxas first announced their engagement on Revillame’s show, the defunct “Wowowee"of ABS-CBN.

Following a legal dispute, Revillame left ABS-CBN to host a new show on TV5, "Willing Willie." Revillame’s show and TV Patrol have the same timeslot.
